Hi, I’m Karen Pasquel – I was born in Peru,

From a very young age, I was always moving. If I wasn’t climbing a tree, I was running or collecting honey from beehives.

 

At the age of 12, when I first watched a movie onTV,  I started to dream about travelling to Europe.

So, after finishing high school, I moved to Spain!

There I studied IT Applications and to me it was like playing chess.

 

After falling in love with the English language, I just had to go to London – a great place to begin my English Language adventures!! haha!!

But  another kind of adventure awaited me there…I was diagnosed with severe anemia. 

I decided  to take responsibility for my health and this is where my research on well- being began. 

 

My first yoga class was at a gym and to be honest….I completely sucked at it, however,

it didn’t take long, for me to, conversely, become completely sucked ‘IN’ to it.

So much so, that my next adventure was to travel to the heart of Yoga in India!

My yoga teacher training was in Rishikesh. I experienced many fascinating Yoga practices including nostril cleaning with string.!!

 

It wasn’t long before I started teaching yoga to friends and to tech companies, back in London.

From there I also organised yoga retreats in Spain and Morocco.

Always seeking to stay in optimum health, and to help others, I ran smoothie/juice classes, and enjoyed running a  yoga studio for several years.

 

I was also  diagnosed with Graves Disease, and it was the first time I experienced  an illness  which impacted and limited my mobility, depleted my energy and fogged my mind. While I was sick I stopped teaching for a couple of days, my limitations made me drastically change my modality of teaching and my personal practice.

I transitioned from strong Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Rocket style to Hatha, Kundalini,  Qi-gong and Yoga Nidra. My personal practice was mainly pranayama (breath work), meditation and Kundalini Kriyas.

 

My doctor said “during my experience I have never seen such a fast recovery from Graves”

 

Apart of my yoga practice, to help my body to heal, I improved my sleep patterns with strategies that I had learnt from many different sources, such as Dr. Mathew Walker, Shawn Stevenson and from the Functional Medicine podcast. I also used a mix of Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic principles and Western medicine.

 

I also discovered that this illness was more common than I thought. Many of my students were dealing with similar or the same issue, for years.

After recovering my wellbeing, the  “Komplete Wellness Program”  was born.

 

I have been fortunate enough to work on several well-loved projects, I’m not scared of challenges or changes. I love sharing all the tools and strategies that I have learnt on my way with my never-ending curiosity and passion to enjoy complete wellness.
